A new Repair Café Repair Event at Duke University!

Repair Cafés are free meeting places where local residents meetup with volunteer repair specialists to fix common household items. We share skills, reduce waste, and get more use out of the stuff we already own. More about Repair Café

Repair Café of Cary is partnering with Duke's Pratt School of Engineering to produce Repair Café @ Duke, a special repair event for the entire Duke and Durham community.

Repair Cafés are free meeting places and we’re all about repairing things (together). You will find tools and experienced repair specialists to help.

We are looking for volunteers – students, staff and area residents – to join us as volunteer repair specialists. You don't need to be a repair professional – most of us aren't. If you have experience doing your own repairs on anything from jewelry to vacuum cleaners, there is a place for you at Repair Café. If you are interested, please email repaircafenc@gmail.com.

You will receive a recommended arrival time in early April.

The POD is Duke's newest engineering design space. A broad lineup of tools, 3-D printers, laser cutters, worktables and materials to inspire, design and solve real-world problems.

About Repair Café

What do you do with a chair when the leg has come loose? With a toaster that no longer works? Toss it? No way! You can repair it at Repair Café.

We throw away vast amounts of stuff. Even things with almost nothing wrong, and which could get a new lease on life after a simple repair. Lots of people don't consider doing a repair themselves. Knowing how to make repairs is a skill that everyone can learn.

Repair Café is changing all that! We are bringing together people to share skills and solve problems. Valuable practical knowledge is getting passed on. Things are being used for longer and don’t have to be thrown away.

Repairing is better for your wallet and better for the environment. But most of all, Repair Café just wants to show how much fun repairing things can be, and how easy it often is. Join us and discover how much fun fixing can be!
